Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes (Salisbury Beach, MA 8/2/15)

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes have never disappointed me with their energetic live performance, but there's just something special about seeing this band seaside.

Last night the legendary Jersey Soul band played at the Blue Ocean Music Hall right on the strip of Salisbury Beach. The band must have felt at home looking stage-left out of the big windows that face the ocean, and although they weren't in Asbury Park, NJ last night - they sure played like they were. The full moon, also visible out the windows, let the band know the crazies were out as well.

The set list was a crowd pleaser as the band traveled deep in their catalog all night long playing well known hits such as I Don't Want to Go Home, Talk to Me, This Time It's For Real, The Fever, Broke Down Piece of Man, ect. and also a few new tunes from their upcoming album set to drop in a couple weeks (although Johnny kept adding time to the release date every time he talked about it - I think we ended up sometime in the year 2,500). The second or third song in the band started playing Walk Away Renee and an audience member shouted "Already?!", which Johnny responded with "Hey, I do what I want!" And that's exactly what Johnny does - and that's how we like it. The band finished the night with two separate encores since the crowd wanted more and ended on the crowd favorite Havin' a Party. There's no doubt that thanks to Southside Johnny and his amazing group of musicians in the Asbury Jukes, this Sunday night was definitely a party!

Here are some photos I was able to capture throughout the night:
